Education Program for School Nurses
In conjunction with the American Diabetes Association, Joslin Diabetes Center has designed a one-day program to update school nurses on current expectations and the tools to meet them. The program includes information about:
- Etiology and pathophysiology of type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes.
- Current diabetes treatment plans, including a discussion about insulin pump therapy and the latest technologies in blood glucose monitoring and insulin delivery.
- School planning: diabetes health care plans, 504 forms and IEPs.
- Student meal plans, as well as a discussion about obesity, physical activity and nutrition in schools.
- "It takes a village concept": your role in helping families live with diabetes.
Contact hours will be offered for nurses.
